Fruitbowl Gaming is founded by two gamers, looking to share our thoughts and perspectives on the gaming industry as a whole. This will include game reviews, weekly recommendations of various types, videos, and potentially more.

Hi everyone!
I'm DetectivBananas, but you can call me Ruben if you'd like.
​
Having being born and living my first 8 years in Armenia, I had very little knowledge of gaming. The only games I knew that existed were House of the Dead at the arcades and Minesweeper. Ever since I moved to the United states in the mid 2000s, however, my experience has expanded immeasurably. Fast forward to today, and I have a B.S. degree in Cognitive Science from UCSD and a more in-depth understanding of gaming in general.

Although I am open to most genres, my top 5 are turn-based strategy, roguelite, FPS, open world and horror. I own and play on the Xbox Series X|S, PC and a few Nintendo consoles. Having reached a major personal milestone last summer (1 million Gamerscore), I am now working on my new one: playing through the entirety of my gaming catalog.

During my off time, when I'm not working, gaming, etc., I like to read gaming history books, such as Art of Octopath Traveler and Art of Rage 2.

McDisney’s the name
Starting out as a born and bred Kiwi from New Zealand and gaming from a young age, it has become a quintessential part of who I am. I am a fully trained chef and personal trainer with some experience in other fields, even with a few years in the professional gaming industry as a sales rep and competitive gamer.
Moving to the USA in 2018 and marrying my partner (who is a gamer herself, but sticks to the Nintendo ecosystem for the most part) has really allowed me to expand my gaming catalog to systems and series that never really came to NZ.
I play pretty much all genres, ecosystems and platforms of the gaming world, although I definitely have my preferred and disliked games and franchises. But as life has gone on I am now a father and dedicated husband. My gaming habits have evolved to suit my lifestyle. I usually only play in the evenings once my child has gone to bed, but on weekend nights I extend my hours to get more co-op time in with my mates and family all over the world.
